I am delighted to be part of the Barlavento International Primary School community as the Forest School and Gardening Assistant. Many of you may already know me from Forest Club, and to those who don’t, I’d like to share a little about myself.
Originally from London, I fell in love with the Algarve’s natural beauty 11 years ago when I moved here with my daughter and our dog. My lifelong passion for the natural world has always been at the heart of everything I do. I have been fortunate to travel and live in places such as Switzerland, Spain, and Cornwall, and have spent many years working with animal charities around the world. That same love for animals and conservation continues to inspire my work today.
My dedication to sustainability, environmental protection, and hands-on learning led me to create Forest Club eight years ago. I am now thrilled to bring that same enthusiasm and experience to Barlavento International Primary School.
At its core, Forest School is about giving children the freedom and space to learn and grow in an outdoor environment. It provides opportunities for exploration, risk-taking, and self-directed learning, helping children to build confidence, resilience, and a deep connection to the natural world. I have seen firsthand how children thrive when they are encouraged to engage meaningfully with nature and each other.
